What To Do About A Bumper Dent A Vancouver Auto Repair

Unless you are a super careful driver and you dont ever drive around people who are not super careful drivers, chances are your vehicle is going to get some dings and scratches at some point. These little bumps and dents can be annoying and unsightly.

Obviously, many of these dents occur on the bumper panels. Some dents are too big to remove, so your only option is to replace the part that has the dent. Unfortunately, that can be expensive because many bumper covers these days cost about $1,000 or more. You could always choose to live with the dent if you dont want to shell out that kind of money.

Fortunately, however, there are some dents that are small enough that you can remove them. It wont work in every instance, but in many cases, you can make the dent smaller and look better.

Simple Ways to Remove a Car Dent

You have several options to remove dents. Every vehicle and dent are different so you might have to try more than one method to get your dent out.

Plunger to the Rescue one of the easiest ways to get a dent out is to use a plunger. If the dent is small enough a cup plunger might be enough to do the trick. Just wet the dent and plunger and then start pushing and pulling. If it works, you should hear a popping sound when the dent comes out.

Blow Dryers Arent Just for Hair if you have a hair dryer and a compressor around the house, then you might be able to remove your dent with them. You can use a can of compressed air as well. Set the temperature as hot as you can then blow the hot air on the dent, which makes the plastic expand. When it gets hot enough blow the compressed air on the dent at the same time. The cold air makes the plastic contract, and the dent will pop out.

Boiling Water some dents are stubborn because the plastic is hard. But you can overcome this by pouring boiling water on the dent and then trying to push the plastic back into place. The hot water can soften the plastic making it more pliable.

Dry Ice dry ice is another option to get a dent out if its small enough. Make sure you have a good pair of gloves and then simply rub the dry ice over the affected area until you hear a pop. It may take several tries, but it should work if the dent is on the small side.
