Its almost time for the kids to head back to school in the Vancouver area. Of course, with coronavirus still prevalent in our community, no one really knows for sure what the school year is going to look like this year. In fact, everyone might just be doing school from home.
But regardless of how or where you attend school, there is always a need to have a trusted, reliable vehicle you can count on. School activities can keep families busy, not to mention all the other extracurricular activities going on. Its no wonder why having your vehicle in tip top shape is so important.
Tips for Back to School Car Care
There are numerous things you can do to get your car, truck, crossover, van, or SUV ready for the upcoming season. Here are some of the most important things to pay attention to. They might seem basic, but its the basics that help keep your vehicle healthy, and keep you happy.
Change your oil this is the most basic of all vehicle maintenance, and yet its one of the most important. If you havent had an oil change recently, then it might be time to schedule an appointment to get it done. Most newer vehicles will tell you when they need their oil changed. If youre not sure, then you can check your operators manual, or give us a call and we can find the info for you.
Check your battery this is another very simple tip, but it can go a long way in keeping your vehicle on the road where it should be. You can either get a volt meter and check your battery yourself, or you can stop by our shop, or any parts store and have it checked there. You should also look for any signs of corrosion, especially near the connection points.
Check your tires your tires keep you safely on the road. So you have to make sure they are in good working condition. If you notice any uneven wear patterns, or the tread is getting low, then you should get a new set of tires. You can check your tread yourself, or bring in your vehicle and well have one of our ASE Certified technicians do it for you.
Check your brakes next up is your brakes. Brake pads wear down. Its just a fact of life. The more you use them, the more they wear out. If your brakes feel soft or they screech really badly, then its most likely time to get your pads replaced. Your rotors might night to be replaced, as well.
Top off fluids lastly, now is a good time check all of your important fluids, in addition to your oil. This includes brake fluid, wiper fluid, power steering fluid, and anti-freeze/coolant. If any of these fluids are low top them off. And if any of them are dirty, then have them drained before adding new fluid.
